This beautiful monument is located a few hundred meters away from the city center, near Georgiadis Park.

Created in 1979 by Mr Yannis Kanakakis, this monument is dedicated to the battle of Crete.

To all the fallen Greek soldiers and the allies who bravely fought during the battle of Crete, 20 to 31 of May 1941.

The cannons have played their part in their war and something that is not widely known is that bones of soldiers who lost their lives in the battle, are located underneath the monument.
