Statue of Nicolas Kitsikis

The statue of Mr Nicolas Kitsikis (1887-1978) will welcome you to Heraklion mole.

He was an scientist, soldier, politician and is considered as one of the top engineers of the 20th century. After graduating from the Athens Polytechnic School in the early 1900s, he received a scholarship for Berlin’s University.

He was the technical director of a British company, responsible for building Heraklion harbor and the city, in his honor, revealed this sculpture in 2003.

It is in this very city, that he met and fell in love with his future wife, Mrs Beata Kitsikis (formerly Petychakis)
